I gave up at the end.
I solved it once by reinstalling the whole game in a separate folder (so I had 2 GTL, a plain one and an altbierbude one) and everything worked well.
Then, after a normal update with the autouploader, it started to give me the same problem again. Whataver car I select, i get the ford GT40.

At the moment, I have no solution so I gave up. I can't spend 2-3 hours of my days off to get a f****ing game working and then redo everything every time.....better take a walk in the sun.

Maybe it could help to get the windows 7 copy from Simbin?

I suppose you're using Windows 7? The UAC could be the issue.

I have a german version, so I hope I'll get the correct description for the menu points.

You can try the following:

Make a new clean DVD installation, do not start the game.

Click the GT Legends main folder with the right mouse button, then "Properties", switch to tab "Security". Set full read/write access to this folder for "Everyone".
Do the same for your ABB archive folder.
Edit: You can do this on an existing installation also.

Right click "GTL.exe" (in the main folder),"Properties" and make sure to run as an administrator.

Install the official patch 1.1.0.0., do not start the game.

Apply the GTL-Patch via the Autoupdater as shown here.

Start GT Legends without DVD, create a temporary user (like XYZ). Close GTL.

Now run the Autoupdater and update addon cars and tracks.
Note: Don't do this on an earlier point.

When finished, copy back your saved profile to UserData, start GTL and switch to your saved profile.

Ford GT40 - there is another solution you can try:

Perhaps there is a wrong online-key - the dvd-key. After changing the DVD-Key in the Registry with the Online-Key (Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432NODE -> 10TacleStudios -> GTL -> KEYS) (Windows7 64bit) and making a new Online-Account it worked.

Also you can try to make a new profil, because the trace reports a illegal garage-file in your folder.

Otherwise - a walk in the sun is allways a good idea

I won't be trying these though. I don't have time for other attempts. I really hope this problem gets solved by someone else and a final solution is posted sticky on all the GTL forums.
You could say "who cares if you do it or not?!!" and you'd be right. But I want to express my disappointment for the bad implementation of the altbierbude downloader with the game. I know it's user made stuff and I only have to say thanks, but at the end of the day it's not 100% reliable yet and can become a real pain in the ass..... better play the plain game at that point.

GT Legends was not designed for Windows 7 and there are various issues, beginning with that Starforce rubbish.

I understand your disappointment, but this is not a problem of bad implementation of the Autoupdater, in fact it provides a solution to blast the Starforce drivers.

There are lots of ways to f**k up your ABB installation, and I feel sorry that you didn't hit the right one yet.

I can't agree - I'm just a little more like 1 year active here and the implementation is a very good solution and the autoupdater a fine application. I did several (more then 10) installations in the meantime on XP and windows 7 with DVD, Computerbild-DVD and digital from Simbin. Sometimes there are problems and also there is/was a solution.

If you want to play GTL with windows 7 there was no solution with the DVD - until the starforce-update this year!!! So you had to patch the game and so on.

And there is no Software without mistakes - doesn't matter if professional/commercial or usermade.

I'm sorry as maybe I didn't express myself well.
I have nothing against the Autoupdater itself, and I really appreciate this community, it's unique and special.
All I can say is that I spent several hours (like you guys did for sure as well) trying to be able to race with you all, patching, fixing, autoupdating etc. The result is that after a lot of time spent I could race only for a couple of times, then I found myself again with this f***ing ford GT40 problem. It's not the Autoupdater's fault, right, and I am really grateful to what you guys do to help all the time. Still... I'm strongly discouraged from spending another sunday, to get the ford GT 40 on monday again.......

By the way

do you guys think that the windows 7 revival edition (http://www.raceroom.net/specials/gt-legends- revival/) could help to fix this problems?

It will fix the Starforce issue, not the UAC issue.

Hi,

it may reduce problems with unpacking the GTL-files because they are unpacked. It's worth to try it.

I have also got the same problem as of yesterday.I use XP and have previously experienced no problem.I used AutoUpdater to update all files and played offline no problem but when went to log online was unable and was stuck with GT Ford offline .I changed my plr file vehicle but it just came back.Strange that it is always gt Ford.I will try Online registration resetup.

As far as I know, this problem comes up, if you have not patched your game to version 1.1.

Maybe you can install the patch right now and everything is fine.
But I think, you have to uninstall the whole thing and install it again. If u have to - do it this way:
1st: Install game (don't start the game)
2nd: patch 1.1
3rd: run autoupdater
4th: race!

..and check your online key. If you entered a wrong online key, you will always get the Ford GT 40.

And if you had changed your online key, you must register a new lobby acount. But you can reuse your old lobby name and password.

It seems online key was the problem.[Game was already patched and running successfully on and offline].
I observed in registry[refer post50157 of rdjango]no serial key entry number.I tried entering number with regedit but not successfully.
Also in Autoupdater -Tweaks-GTL online key was no entry.
So after registering new online acct.and entering online key again ,all good.It also now appears in Tweaks,and registry.
I am suspecting one of my deep reg clean programs must have removed this entry.

Of interest,When reverted to older player profile was able to select vehicle,But if went back to regular profile still stuck on GT Ford.

But i dont understand why after registering new online acct with new name and email,I still get old profile logon name and password to join successfully online.Anyway all good!

don't know what happened, but I redid the whole installation procedure like always and everything is working fine since then. I also did some great races with some of you. My nick in race is mr2cc.
