                        | Escort event at Porto: what happened? 17 Years, 10 Months ago | |
                        | I just watched the replay of todays race, and it was like a destruction derby. What happened guys?
I did an offline test-run afternoon: narrow track, long straights with 1st gear turns on their end, concrete walls, no gravel traps.
I couldn't do 2 decent laps in a row with the Escort here. On the empty track, offline! Scary! 35 laps without error, with others on the track? Overtake someone, without body-contact? Mission impossible!
So I decided to skip this event, didn't want to ruin others race with unsafe driving.

Now I downloaded the replay: many crashes in the first lap, traffic jam-like situations, 3-4 survivors for the last lap... One guy made a mistake the others has no room to pass him, 'cause of the extra narrow track.

IMHO a TC-65 car would been a better choice for this cramped, narrow circuit: slower speeds -> more time for plan-B, when things go wrong.
The Escort is a twitchy and nerveous car, not suitable for this circuit. I think even the Cobra is a more predictable and forgiving car.

 Any opinions?
What was the race like from the inside view?

 Sorry about my bad English!

 Adam

                        | Yup Re it was tin hell out there, he he!
As you say a better choice would have been TC-65 cars.

Personally I love the track as it is quite exciting to drive but not with twitchy cars.

Cheers.

                        | I think even St. Petersburg would been safer for an Escort race: there are "parking zones" beside the turns, and more room to solve tricky situations. Or Russian Ring: very similar layout: slow and tricky turns also, but you can run off the track, and cannot bounce back to the others. Maybe more survivors could have finish the race. | |

                        | Hi guys!
Adam....from my point of view...you missed something
It was really something like a demolition derby but I had the most fun ever than on any other event in the past. The track is very challenging and the Escort is sometimes a little bit tricky to handle, but to my tast more easier than the Cobra. I like this "dog bone" and wonder what happened with Cobras I liked this event because it was not so important to be fast but trying to bring the horse safe to the hutch. Very challenging and salutary for me, so I finally reached place 7 after on pit stop, two crashes with great luck because the car still worked. Many of the expert drivers dropped out. I recognized this with a little smile from the greenhorns point of view.
My best placing in an event so far with my (first) own car in a very challenging event....more than I could dream of.

Regards

                        | Congrats for the result Jochen!
I felt my driving is too dangerous for other racers on that track, with that car, I didn't want to cause a big pile-up at a long-distance event. It's a bad feeling to ruin someones fun even in a 5lap race.

But, watching the replay maybe I was wrong: I wouldn't been more dangerous than most other folks! | |

                        | Moin zusammen (Hi together),
in that case Jochen had the idea, to establish a kind of support ("Driving-School" for beginners) here on the Bude (see here http://www.altbierbude.de/component/
option,com_fireboard/Itemid,99/func,view/id,10517/
catid,3/lang,de/ (sorry, it's in german language !)

Hope you, and all the other english spoken guys here on the "Bude", will support that idea!
I think it would create more fun during "Events", especially for "Newbies"!

If you have any further Idea regarding "Beginner-Support", send me a message, I'll contact you asap.

Thank you in advance of your support,
