Chevrolet Monza Dekon

DeKon was a successful and recognized racecar builder, winning IMSA championships in 1976 and 1977. Chevrolet had a great deal to do with the design of the DeKon chassis. General Motors first venture with CAD drawings was with the DeKon Monza. In late 1974, DeKon received all of the Monza chassis as complete cars and reconstructed them as customers ordered them.
GM built the H07 body Monza from 1975-80, and it has enjoyed a great run of success in road racing and many other forms of auto racing. The cars were designed by Horst Kwech of Ausca Racing and Lee Dykstra and used to combat the highly successful Porsches in IMSA competition. The car's lightweight, high horsepower combination was a formidable competitor in IMSA and other racing series. The DeKon Monza of Al Holbert won the IMSA GT Championship in 1976 and 1977.

In der Releasephase gibts den Monza nur im Onlinebetrieb.

Du kannst dir aber gerne noch eine zusätzliche Offline-Installation machen und dir den Monza so runterladen.
Dann kannst du ihn auch offline fahren und du kannst dir viele andere Fahrzeuge reinbauen, die nicht hier auf der Bude erhältlich sind.

Werde ich heute Abend mal testen den Boliden.

Das Auto übertrifft alle Erwartungen, macht unglaublich Spass! Ziemlich giftig, aber nach ein bisschen Gewöhnung erstaunlich gut zu kontrollieren. Und vor allem sauschnell!

Ich haette noch eine Bitte: Kann vielleicht jemand die Physikdetails für die unterschiedlichen Versionen hier reinstellen, das waere Interessant.

Monza Physics Read me

In 1975 IMSA wanted greater participation of American racing cars in the GTO class, the problem was that factory built customer GT race cars could simply be bought from Porsche or BMW, that option did not exist for the American cars.
If you wanted to race an American car you had to build and develop it from scratch, a very expensive and challenging proposition.
Realizing this IMSA wrote a special sub class of rules specifically to encourage the building of American based race cars.
Called All American GT or “AAGT” these cars would still compete as GTO cars, they would however be allowed several modifications when compared to the European Group 4 and 2 cars.
Less weight per displacement, bigger tires, and almost full tube frame chassis would be allowed for AAGT cars in an effort to guarantee that if you went to the effort to build one you had a good chance of being competitive. So as to entice privet race teams to build cars.
Several cars would be built taking advantage of the AAGT rules the most successful of which were the Dekon Monza’s




Monza Phase 2 1975.
First year of the Monza race cars in IMSA they did not compete in every race, running carbureted small block Chevy’s, reliability and new car development issues kept them from winning. But they were fast almost right away and 2 Monza’s Qualified 2nd and 3rd in the final race of the year at Daytona.

Monza Phase 3 1976
Al Holbert who had been racing an RSR was convinced by what he saw in 75 that the Monza was the car to have in 76. He was not the only one, by round 3 of the 76 season there would be eight Monza’s on the grid, now with a fuel injected 5.7 liter Chevy and professional teams to develop it the Monza became a potent race car, Beating the once dominate IMSA spec RSRs. Strong challenge would come from another ex RSR team, Bromos who ran a special extra light weight IMSA spec BMW CSL with big group 5 tires and an M49 4valve engine the CSL won the first race at the 24hours of Daytona and was always a top car. By the end of the year Porsche would be allowed to race a standard group-4 934 turbo but it was too little too late. Holbert would go on to win 5 races and the championship with the Monza. The American car era had arrived in IMSA, it would not last long.

Monza Phase 4 1977
IMSA would get much closer to allowing full Group5 cars in 77 but not quite. However all of the cars sprouted big group5 stile rear wings and large front splitters.
Porsche now allowed to race a special lighter weight version of the 934, the 934/5 that used bigger tires and several 935 parts including the 935 rear wing and the boost turned up to 600hp it would need all of that.
The Monza now had its own full 6 liter fuel injected 600hp engine, large duel element rear wing and new front bodywork to balance out the down force from the wing Holbert in the Monza would go on to win the IMSA championship yet again.

Monza Phase-5 1978 GTX
For 1978 IMSA was to allow full Group 5 race cars this meant the factory developed Porsche 935.
Al Holbert did not compete in 78 so the Monza lost its strongest team.
With the large weight reduction allowed by the GTX rules in its hairiest and fastest form with the car almost 10seconds a lap faster then it had been just 3 years before, Chirs Cord’s Red Monza put up a few good fights ageist the 935s but in the end the privet Monza teams could not beat the factory supported 935s. In fact it was the Greenwood GTX corvette that would offer the strongest challenge by an American car to the 935s. but that is a different MOD.
The Monza would continue to be raced in IMSA for years but never again be a championship contender.

Chevy Monza for GTL

Included in the mod are all 4 version of the Monza from 1975 to 1978. With the 1975 cars being able to race with the standard GTL 76 class cars though it is perhaps the fastest car of the group.
The 76 car is a good match for the group-4 934 that has already been released though it is as in real life faster than the 934.
The 1977 cars, the first of the winged IMSA cars are a bit of an orphan in GTL at this time not quite as fast as the big Group-5 cars.
Several other IMSA cars are on the way to fatten up these middle 2 groups. Including the IMSA spec RSR from 75-76 the IMSA CSL from 76 and several other cars.
The GTX car from 1978 is a full Group-5 car, its fast on short tracks but suffers a little bit on top end when compared to the 935 or CSL Turbo as it has more aero drag than the 935 and though it’s very powerful it cant match the raw power of the CSL turbo.

Hab das Ding schon seit geraumer Zeit offline und konnte bissl testen und so weiter, macht einfach Bock zu fahren.

Der Sound ist genial, vor allem wenn das Ding im Schubbetrieb ist. Richtig geil.

Auf Sebring hat er grad eben besonders Laune gemacht. Die Strecke ist wie für das Ding gebaut.

Bin heut von der schule gekommen,und hab sofort den Autoupdater angeschmissen,um den Chevy Monza herunterzuladen.Dann auf den ersten Runden in Dijon war ich total überascht!
Das ding geht wie auf schienen,ist verdammt schnell und immer gut zu beherschen kurz: extrem geile kiste .Ein durch und durch gelungenes Auto!
Ich glaub ich bin nicht der einzige,der heute ein neues Lieblingsauto bei GTL hat!
Hut ab und allerhöchsten Respekt den Leuten die dieses Monster auf grün gebracht haben!!!

bin sehr begeistert von diesem Fahrzeug.

Wer mich kennt, der weiß dass ich nicht der Fan von Ammi-Kisten bin, aber bei diesem Auto (GTX) mache ich eine Ausnahme.

Ich bin gestern nur ein Paar Runden gefahren und bin ganz hin und weg.
Selbst mit dem Standart-Setup ist es ein vergnügen dieses Auto zu fahren.

Ich gehe sogar noch weiter, der GTX kann ohne Probleme gegen den 935 und CSL Turbo antreten und bestimmt auch mithalten, wenn es nicht so lange Geraden gibt. ( so bis ca. 300 Kmh )

Endlich mal ein Fz. der gegen diese Boliden antreten könnte (Ich weiß nur nicht ob es die gleiche Klasse sein wird - wohl nicht, aber interessant wäre es bestimmt).

Fazit: Großes lob an die Macher und Umsetzer für GTL.
Dieses Fahrzeug ist eine Bereicherung auf der Bude.
