Hi fellow drivers,
I drove this exciting track layout for the first time ever on-line on server #1 yesterday.
I had practiced a little before off-line to get to know the tyre wear and fuel consumption to make up my pit stop strategy. During that practice I instantly noticed that there was a certain point on track where my graphics card (ATI X1600 512MB AGP) "fainted" for a second or two every lap. The view was kind of blurred and you had almost no idea where you were driving 250 kph!
That point is here (click to enlarge if needed):
That problem was twice as bad on-line. I feared it would cause me some trouble during the race and right I was!
I drifted twice to the barrier due to driving "blind". First time on lap 2 or 3 I survived but dropped from 5th to 8th while some part of my car seemed to have stucked to the rail and it was extremely difficult to "detach" the car in high speed.
The second time on lap 6 was fatal, I drifted similarly to the barrier but this time I flew over the bank and rolled over "a dozen" times. But surprise, surprise - my car was still functioning and I did not notice any major damage! I was on a grass field surrounded by trees and I tried to find my way back to the track - I'm no quitter! When searching my way out I got a message "Wrong way" and that finally disqualified me.
Did any of you experience similar problems, I know all of you do not have the latest hardware but a more or less modest ones like I do.
This was the first event ever the stutter was this bad and I've been driving a way over 100 of them.
Could this have something to do with the fact that there are tracks crossing (a bridge actually) at that point and there is too much load for the graphics card?
I hope you had more pleasant event yesterday - at least there really was potential for a very exciting race!
Cheers,
Timo
