seeing as tonights race has a b1tch of a corner for T1

but you only need to look at the attached diagram to see the effects of late braking and it's bilingual
Race Starting Dynamic
Lets have a look at the Dynamics of a race start, from the perspective of the Pole Position (driver P) and Last Place on the Grid (driver L) and no other cars or drivers on the track, although their mind sets will still take account of other drivers.
See attached diagram.
300 m = from the turn in point (TIP), terminal velocity on the straight, on the limiter in top.
250 m = from the TIP, last place (LP) on the grid.
150 m = from the TIP, pole position (PP)
000 m = TIP for T1, brakes off. 50 MPH
And their off, on the acceleration phase………………
Driver P:
Accelerates too the Optimum Pole Position Brake Point (OPP-BP) and has reached 100 mph and is 50 meters from the TIP on the left hand side of the track, and is now into his Braking Phase
Driver L:
Accelerates too the Optimum Last Place Brake Point (OLP-BP) and has reached 150 mph and is 100 meters from the TIP on the right hand side of the track, and is now into his Braking Phase.
Driver P Mind Set:
Has invested a great deal of skill and effort in getting the pole and knows that out braking himself into T1 could lose him a several positions, he also might be thinking about jump starts and a stop/go penalty. He did in fact start braking 10 metres before the OPP-BP, so he’s now doing 90 mph and has 60 metres until the TIP, this gives him an extra 10 metres to slow the car as it’s at maximum weight with cold tyres, he is on the left hand side of the track to defend the corner, he’s not on the racing line so he uses the extra 10 meters well so he shouldn’t run wide through T1 and gets a perfect T2.
Driver L: Mind Set
He is banking on taking advantage of the impending carnage at T1, He did not actually start braking until he was 10 metres past the OLP-BP, so he’s now doing 160 mph and is only 90 metres from the TIP has cold tyres and a full tank of petrol and was more or less out of control once he passed PLP-BP, he will not be able to drive round anyone that has had a mishap on T1 or T2 as he’s going 20 mph too fast into T1 but might get a luck bounce off of some one that might put him back on track., but he is on the right hand side of the track entering T1.
Various assumptions and simplifications:
Both drivers are of equal skill, but may have different mind sets.
Both drivers have the same car, setups and full fuel loads.
The cars maximum acceleration/braking are both linear and the same at 10 mph per 10 metres.
TIP: before you start a real race, set up your local machine for a 3 lap race on the track in question, with the cars in question and also have AI cars on, and do at least 1 race with the fuel load you intend to start with in the real race, remember to check the race server full usage as if it's set to 2 x fuel usage you'll need to add twice the amount of fuel so the car is at the correct weight for your practice race.
TIP: unless your running a super computer you are going to get a lower FPS (Frames Per Second) at the start of a race, don't be surprised when it happens.
TIP: you might encounter a bit of warp or lag (you shouldn't get much lag or warp on a modern server, you are seeing other peoples connection problems, unless everyone is doing it), there's not much you can do about this if it happens, all you can do is leave a bigger gap and more space between you and the cars around you.
