Hi everyone,
I'd like to host a dedicated server at home and have it registered in the lobby, but i'm facing connection issue.
Let me describe the situation:
On my local network, I have
- a linux server on which i run the dedicated server.
- my windows computer.
I have a DSL connection, my IP address changes every few days. I'd like to register my server in the lobby so friends can connect without have to search for my IP.
So i launched the dedicated server, told it to register in the lobby. So far so good.
Problem is, i can't connect from my own computer, i guess because the lobby tells my computer that the address of my server is my WAN IP address, which my computer can't access.
I tried to connect without using the lobby, through local network, but it seems the server refuses the connection.
Is there a way to make it work ? I thought adding a rule to my router to redirect packets coming from my computer to my local server, but i can't add such a rule.
Can someone from outside my local network access my server if i don't tell it to register in the lobby ? (using "add ip" from the network window)
