You certainly had a bad day with you PC stuff m8.

Have you tried using two monitors from the same PC sharing a graphics card? If you haven't it's easy to set up.

1... connect 2nd monitor to your card (I assume you must have a working card as you still have one monitor running).

2... On the desktop press right mouse and access properties and under settings there should now show Monitor 1 and Monitor 2.

I can't rmember what to do next but I do know it's simple.

Hope that helps.

Gee

That's how I have it done. I wonder though Geedee if he means the card he has bow isn't powerful enough.(?)

Monty, do you have a backup HDD? I recently got one and am glad I did so. That reminds me, I haven't backed my main GTL install this week. (Working on a new one.)Heh.

I do hope all gets back to normal soon. I know I've scrapped projects when I've lost them as I couldn't bring myself to doing all that work all over again. Of course, none of my projects are anything like the wonderfulness you do!!

Uganda, eh? Makes me realise how we in Canada and other countries take for granted we can just order an item and it's here in a day or three.

Cheers my friend and thinking positive thoughts on your direction.

One card, two monitors is what I had setup, but had to install an old card I had lying around to get the system up and running again. It has dual video ports as well but the DVI/VGA connector I have is different and card is only 64mb which isn't nearly enough for the apps I run... My own fault as I knew the UPS battery was shot (from to many deep cycles as power outages are very frequent here).

I'm usually pretty good about backing up my data (I have 2.5 terabytes of storage on this machine), but hadn't backed up this PSD file for a few weeks and while I have the original GTL install backed up, it didn't include changes to the user files. To tell you the truth I never expected the user files to be wiped clean (i.e. reset) upon a power failure as is unusual behaviour for an app. Now I know...

BTW: While, I have been in Africa for the last 14 years, I'm from Canada originally (Mosport and Shannonville were my local tracks for years).

Obtaining parts here, are a major headache though much better than it used to be, so I may luck out on finding a hi-end card locally, unfortunately parts for my Harley is another story...

Note: While I have run across elephants on road trips a number of times, I'm not in the habit of getting this close This pic is just me playing with photoshop to create a wallpaper of my bike...

Mmmm.... I was afraid you would say that!!

I forget most times to backup my stuff... did some today though after your thread, he he

Nice photo that you made BTW. Are you in Africa because of your job, parents or choice? Obviously not for the PC hardware

Yeah, I think this is a good reminder. I plan to back up my GTL files tonight as I haven't in a week or so and it takes a few hours.

The bike must really stand out there.

I was exiled to Africa...
Seriously, I was out here originally as the Africa CIO (12 countries) for a large multi-national, nowadays though it is by choice as much as work.

As for the Harley, I found it in pretty rough condition in one of the Rally guy's workshops, bought it "as is" since it wasn't running at the time, tore it down and rebuilt it myself from the frame up as a pet project. Got rid of the stock 4.3gal tanks and installed 6gal, rebuilt the motor to 1453cc, "Africanised" the frame for these rough roads and painted it in what I call Viceroy colours in keeping with the '47 retro styling, the list goes on. Only downside is I can't stop anywhere without getting surrounded by crowds...

Here is a typical scene while refueling in Northern Uganda.

It's great to see that your Harley brings joy to others too.

With the size of your engine I get to understand more the comparison of your bike to the elephant on your photoshop pic.

If you have problems getting a new grafix card I may have an old one that I could post to you that may help for now.

Thanks Gordon, I appreciate the offer, but I'm sure I will manage until I find something local or have a new card brought in.

Cheers mate,

Monty

I know jgmonty was working on this but he had also indicated that he leads a very busy life so he would be working on this from time to time.
I hope he didn't drop this project and if he had, i sure hope someone who pick this up and bring these Z cars back to life.
