                    Hi all,
got an issue with my p2p speed.
                    Im only getting 0.7kb/s

seriously less than 1kb/s. that 1550hours for a 51mb file

My ports are open - tested ok.
I checked with sosarian and he was getting 170kb/s on the same dload `crownplaza` at the same time 20:30GMT today with the same peers/seeds. 3/1.

I dloaded direct and I am getting 44kb/s

                    any ideas pls?

                    thanks

P2P speed is restricted to the numer of available peers shareing files.

If there are 3 peers online only the speed is lousy of course

During my tests I got a max. of ~400kb/s in P2P traffic (at prime time with a lot of peers online)

                    cheers,
                    Uwe

Sorry Uwe Im not sure but i must have snother issue.

I have a Dfi Sli-D motherboard which has the nvidia hardware firewall. I have shut this off and I can double my speed to 15Kb/s max from 7kB/s max with teh firewall enagaged. Otherwise I see 0.7kb/s trikle at all times. This is just a residual info swap i think.

                    I must have another problem...

I did see 5 and 5 peers/leachers. Still slow speed.

Either my ISP doesnt like the traffic (may have traffic shaping on my account) or my Network hardware drivers dont like the p2p.

I am having to download all direct with my laptop and transfer the rar files into the autoupdate directory for install.

Is anybody else seeing this problem? Because I cannt continue download and transfer and install like this at such slow speed, I have bockbierbude updates aswell.

                    Thx

Use the speedtest.net website to test your Internet connection and see if you're ISP is haping your traffic. Do it in the morning and then the evening. What downspeed is your laptop getting, is it on the same line as your desktop PC?

And yes a hardware firewall will slow your connection down. Motherboard firewalls are pretty crap compared to a dedicated standalone hardware firewall. Use a software firewall like ZoneAlarm instead unless you use Vista.

BTW, Kb is kilobits and KB is kilabytes. The two are very different. There are 8 bits to 1 byte, so 7KB/s = 56Kb/s.

The p2p-Download is only intended as a "rescue parachute" (don't know the right explanation in English).
The adequate download speed will occur on using direct ftp-download. If interested read the news section in the script info. People supporting us on server costs will be rewarded with faster connections. Our kind of cummunity concept.

One thing you could do is to check if other P2P files could be downloaded at maxium speed.

In example the Ubuntu distribution can be downloaded by use of BitTorrent or an alternativ Torrent Client. Normally you should be able to get the maximum possible speed out of your internet connection.

Most Torrent Clients allow to use encryption, not only to hide the stuff you are downloading but also to bypass traffic shaping. Try to download a Torrent with and without encryption and look if there is a difference.
