Autoupdater or Autocrasher? 16 Years, 7 Months ago
So I got the programs downloaded and installed (looked at the directions at least 5 times to make sure it was done right) and the silly thing keeps crashing.

The update will check and see what I need and then start downloading. After a while (time varys) all the sudden XP tells me the program has a problem needs to close. The peer to peer speed would be tolerable, but not with constantly having to reload the program. I must have started at least 20 times now just trying to get all the cars.

Once this is straightened out, maybe someone can help me configure the peer to peer so I can allow access to my files. (XP with Norton and Netgear router - I have already told both Norton and the router to allow access to the specified ports, but still fail the access in Updater.)

                          Thanks.
                          Jim

Okay, I give up. Several uninstalls & re-installs, clean registry, and get newest versions of Python and still get crashing.

Seems to be a great utility, just wish it worked for me.

                          Hi Jim,

with that vague error descriptin it's difficult to give any help...

But as it seems that no other users share this problem, I would concentrate on other possibilities, not the autoupdater. MAybe on the python-implementation or (old?) windows-installation with crude registry (regclean doesn't help in any cases)....

                          thumbs up

I appreciate your comments, but there isn't really much else I can add. Next crtash I will try and get a screen shot of what XP reports. I know there is an offset problem, but haven't a clue what that means.
For more info, I am running XP with all recent updates and clean thed registry with Norton. Norton allows me to see what the problems are and then decide what to do with them. No problems have been reported associated with Python.

New kink is that I have the Mercedes 300 bug fix installed and the zip file (named as Updater wants it) is in the archieve folder. Yet... Updater still wants to download the fix. If I say yes, Updater just sits there with a pause message on the download. eventually it crashes.

BTW, I got the peer-to-peer fighured out, just wish it would have helped with this problem.

                          Firebosss,

Have you had this problem with any other program? I was running into something close to what you've stated (i am missing lots of hair at this point) turns out it was a bad stick of memory. Just a thought, and I hope it helps.
