IMO there is no real need for ftp as peer2peer is perfectly fine especially if you run the autoupdater regularly.
Only your first download will be heavy-volume. From then on all you need is update regularly and time won't be an issue at all. Where an average ftp might let's say download in two minutes, the same might take ten on p2p. All done when you're back from the drink box. So what really.
As for the donations: we are not using paypal so I had donations wired through a German bank a number of times to account Klaus T. whom I understand is the bookkeeper. Only once was I granted ftp access but whatever that ftp did, it messed up my GTL folders, resp. my download settings (which might also have been a firewall problem our side) and it took me two hours to straighten that out. Which incidentally is the only problem I ever had with the ABB. So I expressly never want ftp again. It cost me more time to fix that ftp problem than p2p would lose me over a year or two.
Also, and this is strictly personal, when all is said and done, I don't really care about the download speed, I donate in support of the superb service by the ABB guys who offer me this unique opportunity to race cars from my youth again.
And I really look forward to testing the Manx TT. That alone is worth a bob or three.
Keep on truckin' boys, see you after the holidays.
