New PC: GTL/Altbierbude Install - Dummies Guide? 13 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
Hi All,
I have a new machine, and am about to start the long process of moving all my important apps and data from the old PC.
Is there a thread already on here telling me how to:
- Install GTLegends on my new machine (Windows 7)? I still have my original GTL CD, but what is this about a new digital version?
- How to install the altbierbude updater?
- How to keep all my old GTLegends settings?
- How to make sure I can still connect to the lobby
- How to transfer across all my tracks and cars?
Sorry for all the questions, but probably useful info for other users too.
Want to make transfer to the new PC smooth: GTLegends will be one of the most important ones to transfer correctly!
Many thanks Altbierbude...

Hello,
to install GTL : Here is the translation from Moorhuhn of the chapter Installation/FAQ:
install from DVD - !!Don't start the game!!
*Update to Version 1.1.0.0
*Install Python, Wxpython and the Autoupdater from here
*Go to Autoupdater -> Tweaks -> GTL-Patch (170MB to download)
* Run the Autoupdater (be patient, 15GB skins and tracks to download via P2P)
* When the Updater has finished, you can unlock all cars and tracks in the autoupdater (make TG2001.DYN) and set the car prices to 1 - not 0, as you can't sell them afterwards, if you like to
*Join us on track..
To get your old Profiles, copy the folder /gtl/profiles into the new gtl-folder.
Good luck

*Make a copy of your UserData-folder, so you have all settings of the wheel and the connection-data to the lobby in your new game. I'm not sure, if the setups are there, too - just have a look in the GTL-folder, where they are sitting around(I have no access to the game, at the moment).
*Make a copy of the archive-folder of the autoupdater (the one with the .zip-files) and point the paths in the autoupdater to the new installation of GTL.
* if you can't run both PCs at the same time, it's maybe a good idea to buy an external case for your old hdd, so you can connect it via USB to the new computer... no data is lost and you can decide, which files to copy.... old hdd can serve as backup-system, afterwards. The external case should cost around 10-20Bucks...
Good luck
Georg

Re:New PC: GTL/Altbierbude Install - Dummies Guide? 13 Years, 5 Months ago

Thanks guys for the help so far.
Last night I installed GTL on my new PC:
- Installed 1.0 from my original CD.
- Installed 1.1 patch
- Installed Autoupdater
- Copied my old UserData folder into the new PC GTL folder
- Copied my old altbierbude archive folder onto new PC.
- Ran autoupdater, pointed it to my altbierbude archive folder and told it to update.
Once the autoupdater had unpacked and installed all my old track and cars, I finally booted GTL.
And everything seems to work... except... NO CAR sounds.
The in game music works fine, but no car sounds - not me or any other drivers/cars on track.
Also, there are no mouse select/click sounds on the menu screens.
I'm running Windows 7.
Any ideas where I went wrong??
I have requested the digital copy from raceroom - will this fix it?
Thanks!
