ich hatte das selbe Problem. Wenn der Server zum Downloaden von Python nicht verfügbar ist, kann man auch einfach Python und wxPython manuell installieren und dann den Autoupdater installieren. Bei der Installation kommt dann immer noch die Fehlermeldung, aber die Pythondatein für den Autoupdater werden installiert und da man ja Python und wxPython schon installiert hat, kann man danach den Autoupdater starten.
Ein weiter Vorteil von dieser Methode ist, dass ihr die aktuelleren Versionen von Python und wxPython bekommt.
Bei den Downloads müsst ihr immer entscheiden, ob ihr 32-bit oder 64-bit braucht. Bei jedem neuerem Rechner sollte 64-bit funktionieren. 32-bit sollte immer funktionieren.
Zuerst müsst ihr Python installieren, dazu ladet ihr die aktuellst Version von Python 2.7. von Python.org herunter. Momentan ist das 2.7.16. Hier ist der direkte Link:

Die 64-bit Datei könnt ihr unter dem Link "Windows x86-64 MSI installer" herunterladen. Die 32-bit Datei unter dem Link "Windows x86 MSI installer".
Die exe-Datein könnt ihr dann ganz normal über Doppelklick installieren.
Dann braucht ihr noch wxPython. Dazu ladet ihr die aktuellste Version von wxPython für Python 2.7 herunter. Aktuell ist das wxPython 2.8.12.1. Hier ist der direkte Link:
