Multiplayer - invalid username/password (help) 9 Years, 3 Months ago
|
|
Hi there, can anyone help?
Since yesterday I get an invalid username/password message when I try to join the multiplayer lobby (=Alucard=/********).
My GTL install is dedicated to ABB and I have changed nothing; my username/password are the usual since longtime. I have no IP-Lobby-files in my GTL main folder. The autoupdater is working perfectly and I used it yesterday to download and install the new Escorts.
If I register a new username, all goes well and I get Registration successful, but same message when I try to log-in with the new username/password: invalid username/password.
Thxs in advance for any help

Hi Alucard,
I found no entry in the logfile with your lobbyname =Alucard=.
Please check, if GTL is trying to connect to lobby.altbierbude.de (91.121.27.29).
Hope it helps

Hi lowspeed,
Thanks for your reply. =Alucard= is the username I have been using in the ABB lobby for more than 3 years now.
Today I successfuly registered amstavares as new username in lobby, but I get invalid username/password also when I try to login whit it.
How can I check if GTL is trying to connect to lobby.altbierbude.de (91.121.27.29)?

Hi Alu,
open a command prompt and type: ping www.gtl-server.net
The result should be as in the attached picture.

The command line test is ok. I don't know what else to do but to try a reinstall with auto-updater.
However, I have a feeling that it'something related to the server and that only an admin can fix.

Hi Alu,
your autoupdater is configured that it checks the correct IP of the lobby?
Perhaps take a look at the file "hosts" under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
In this file should be no IP link to the gtl-server.net

Hi Michael, and thaks for your help.
My autoupdater options are the same as in your picture, and I've jus did a reinstalation but the problem remains.
Also, I've just registered a new user in lobby, whit a new passowrd and a new email adress, and registration is sucessfull, but when I try to login with this new username I get the same invalid username/password message.
My host file in windows/sytem32/drivers/etc seems ok, the content is this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
I don't know what else to do but to try to uninstall GTL and install from scratch again.

Re:Multiplayer - invalid username/password (help) 9 Years, 3 Months ago

Just found in the multiplayer section of my plr file:
Host IP Address="95.166.83.72"
Online Server="GTL_SERVER.txt"
Online UserName="****"
Online Password="****"
Shouldn't it be:
Host IP Address="91.121.27.29"
Online Server="GTL_SERVER.txt"
Online UserName="****"
Online Password="****"
Can someone please check his plr file to see what is the correct Host IP adress?

Hi,
just checked my plr-file.
in my file, the term "Host IP Adress" describes the internal IP of my PC.
I'm really confused now, don't know if it's correct.
I've never changed this section manually.

Thanks zoth,
Yes, if I create a new driver profile the plr multiplayer section has a blank entry in host section
( Host IP Address="" )
But I tried to login like that and same result. I unistalled GTL, reinstalled again the digital version and autoupdater is reinstalling evrything this moment.
I will wait for it to end and try again with a default driver profile. If all goes well, I tune everything later.

I had a similar Problem years ago, and solution was to delete the file 'garage.gar' in subfolder with your user data.
After this Login was possible again.
May this helps.

Nothing seems to work.
New GTL install with digital edition ok, reinstallation with autoupdater ok, but login with a fresh driver profile without any changes from default settings gives same result. Invalid username/password.
Getting desperate by this time, don't know what else to do.
I tried deleting garage.gar, reentering serial number, etc. Nothing works.

What I find most strange is that I can register a new multiplayer user. It says Registration Successful.
But when I try to login with the new username I just successfuly created, I get an invalid username/password message...

Hurrah!, it works!
Thxs Micha, I don't know what you did but I was almost sure that it was something on the server side. I have plenty of experience with GTL, I think I bought my CD edition around 10 years ago and since then I have installed and configured it on many ocasions. Also, my PC is in top condition running Win7 x64, so there was no reason for the Sim giving me problems.
Anyway, I always try to see things for the positive side; now I have a fresh and clean GTL install and I will be joining you guys asap.
Thanks again to you and all that helped, and see you on some track!
