Despite initially feeling a bit overwhelmed when I read the read me file for Python, all went well.

However, when it came to updating, the amount to download was nearly 5 Gb of data.

On my 1MB adsl connection, the transfer rate from altbierbude is around 60kb/s - half the normal rate, and this would mean it would take an entire day to download all the files and that just is not possible.

Even at my normal transfer rate of 116k +/- it would take at least 12 hours.

If these files are crucial for driving on the servers, it looks like my Altbier barrel will run dry before I've even had a drink!

and yes, you should download all the files before you drive on the servers. But you don't need to do that at one go. You can stop the download and continue next time you want to.

The Bude is worth waiting for as once you have all your downloading done getting new cars and tracks etc to update will not take very long.

The advantages of driving here are that you drive with some rather fine chaps with fine cars and lots of tracks and servers to drive on. The Bude site is easy to navigate and has some cool features.

We are a friendly bunch and if you need help there is always someone to lend a hand.
