TOKYO, Japan - Three-time grand prix winner Norifumi Abe of Japan has been killed in a street crash when his 500cc scooter collided with a truck making an illegal U-turn.

On Sunday night my wife & I heard on a radio program that Noriyuki Haga (Norifumi Abe was not mentioned) had been killed in an accident, I was very shocked by this news and reported this to some drivers on the Bude. I could not find confirmation of the story, obviously because it was the wrong person reported to have been killed. I know this must have caused some stress at the time which I must apologise for but when you hear things like this on the radio you do tend to think they are true.

Makes me sad to hear that another bike rider has been killed in a traffic accident. The real Mike Hailwood was also a victim of a traffic accident after having finished his racing career.
Also a reminder to those of us who love motorcycles.
We are very vulnerable amongst the cars, and many motorists take little attention to motorcyclists, so remember to ride careful in traffic.
