Track selection? 18 Years, 5 Months ago
I'm a new guy here at altbierbude, but I drive GTL for a couple of months.

I started the download-script, and downloaded all the great stuff from here. Now I've got 100+ tracks what are unknown for me!

I'd like to learn the most popular ones, but I don't know where to start.

How can I get a clue about which tracks will be raced on the actual day? So that way I could practice them offline a little before joining the race. And wouldn't spend most of my racing time in the gravel traps.

Sorry if it has been asked before.

Hello, just follow this link http://www.altbierbude.de/content/view/36/75/ and select a gameserver. Then you get a list of the tracks currently running. But it's far easier to simply join a server and learn it online!
Also you might be interested in the Buden-Events, which are held regularly (wednesdays and sundays), track and cars allowed are always announced a few days in advance.

hope this helps

Welcome to the Bude.

The events are Thursday and Sunday nights on the Altbierbude.

Pilsbierbude events are Wednesday and Saturday nights.

There is a drift club 'The Sloppy Sausage Club' on Tuesday nights on the Altbierbude.

Hope that helps you. Look forward to seeing on the tarmac.

Thanks very much for the quick reply guys!

Now I got to make some room in my head for that million circuit layouts, so maybe I'll lose the ability to write -> see ya on the track!

hi RedRiot

i'm also a bit new here, but here are a few tips that work for me.

Finding Setups
in your userdata(your user name) folder you will see a list of tracks where the setup files are held, create a new set of folders and name them with all the car names in GTL but make them all lower case, so they will always appear at the end of the track list.
/Zandvort
/alfa
/bmw-full-power
/bmw-low-power
/blah blah

this way you can keep all your setups in their own car folder, no matter what track your racing on.

Setup Names
work out a system for naming setup and stick to it, i use
car-track-setup version so an alfa setup for cadwell would look like
GTA-cadwel-A
A is always the default setup,
if i change anything in the setup it goes to
GTA-cadwel-B and so on,
put notes in the notes box as that helps, add stuff like "+1 click Front rollbar" if i get a nice lap then i record the time i got in the setup name, GTA-cadwel-F-1352, that's an example setup name as you have to watchout as the file name length is limited.

Qualy
Always qualy/create a setup for the fuel load you will be using in the race, then reduce the load for a hotlap, this helps to stop me flying off the track on the first lap !!! and you get a better idea of tyre wear.

Race Book
this is used to record event/setup but in more detail than the notes in your setup file (race or dedicated qualy session) that you drive in. with the event, sim type / car type / who's server and comments on the prgression of a setup. this is helpful if your going to race the same car but on another track.

hope this helps

i'm sure others will have better ways/systems of doing stuff, but the above works for me most of the time.
