Hi Guys,

First off all im new to this forum but not new to the game, i started playing GTL again after some years.
I installed GTL then the v1.1, then the autoupdater and all the other programs such ass pyhon etc.
Then i downloaded all tracks and cars with autoupdater and then i started the game.
First i did open practise and all works like a charm.
But then i wanted to go online to show off how good i was getting but everytime i try to connect to the internet i get the message "can't connect to server".

I don't know what to do anymore, can u guys help me so i can come and have some fun with u guys on the racetrack?

Hi Luca and a warm welcome to the Bude.

Make sure that your Firewall is not stopping you get on to GTL as this is a common problem.

A quick way to find if this is the problem is to turn the Firewall off and then try GTL. If the game works then you know what the problem is.

First off all thank u for the quick reply!
But i allready have my firewall off and it stil gives me the same message.
So at this point im not sure as what to do.
I tried reinstalling GTL and all its components but this seems to have no affect.

Any help is very welcome.

Hi Luca,

have you tried to make a new account on the GTL-lobby? I'm not sure, which error message appears, if the name/pwd-combination is incorrect...
Maybe worth a try.

Yes i want to try to create a new login and pwrd but then i also have to go on the internet via GTL and that does not let me connect.
So yet another prob.
registration failed, could not connect to the server

my young son is calling now so ill come back later.

Okay, my thinking was, that GTL *could* produce a wrong error message, so that you already can go to the internet with it, but suffer from a wrong login...

My second thaught concerns your router - have you blocked outgoing ports beside the standard ones? Maybe GTL wants to use an uncommon one....

It's dificult to solve such problems from far away...

Well guys thx again for the reply's, as im self not such a pc genius i think i'll wait for my brother to come home from his vacation and let him solve the problem for me.
Then ill go and practise some more and hopefully u guys will see me next week or so racing online.

Did you install the 'Anti-deconnextion patch'?? I you did then your problem could be because of that. The patch is not to actually stop you being disconnected but only to use when the GTL lobby is down. So if you have done this then try the following - infact you could try it anyway as it will not do any harm.


This is the message that I received about it after I used it and could not get back online with GTL:

"Pls take a look at you c:\windows\system32\drivers\etcc\host file by using wordpad.
If it still contains the line:

127.0.0.1 localhost www.gtl-server.net

Simply delete this line.
This is the redirection of the lobby to your own machine (for the script).+

Pls check by running:
"nslookup www.gtl-server.net" in a command windows (start/run/cmd) if the resolved address is 81.3.59.61 again and everything is running well ..."

As soon as I followed these instructions I was able to get back on line.

I hope this will do th trick.
