              Hey Gee!

I know that you are a fast man, but now you want to tweak the time. You are one week to early.
Seemed that we got some misunderstanding and I am sorry, I thought you know about the date 01-16-2008 and didn´t mention it again. But it´s no problem. If everything worked, we can try it again. Dates will follow in the event section. Thanks man, maybe that you had fun tonight

              Cheers

              Hi to all,

Well ...what can I say ! Do I blame it on old age or the language barrier between the Brits and the Germans? I mad a silly mistake and jumped the gun by only on whole week ...ahemmm ! I wondered why BeetleJo had not put a poster up or password up for 'The Rookie Club'

I put the server on for the club and didn't have any idea what was planned so I was really struggling to think of ideas . Fortunately Dirtyvfr helped with good driving tips and Moorhuhn although fairly new to GTL also gave advice and did any translating. Without these great guys the night would have been a disaster so thank you once again for your help.

This is the kind of involvement that is needed by any Bude members who feel they have some advice to offer. Some of the night was just spent talking to each other and having a laugh and that was really good. I finally closed the server at around 1.20am CET, he he! The amount of time the Club needs to be run could maybe just left open until we have tried it again

Although some of us used the TS we ended up mainly typing messages the old way and although slow it worked quite well and my feelings are that we should either all be on TS or all just type the old way but instructors could communicate with each other via TS. This needs discussion.

I must apologise to those who came on at the beginning for the unorganized chaos I created, but in the end I think it showed that there is a place for a Rookies school and that we should definitely do this again.

Anyone with any thoughts on this subject please let us know.

For the first time and beeing a bit confused, this was really great fun!

And it clearly showed, that it will be necessary to discuss what should be done in wich order during driving school here on the message board.

To subsummize shortly, what was done...
We first achieved a very stable setup from Geedee & Dirtyvfr, followed by a discussion, how changes in the setup will impact on the handling of the car. Then we had a few rounds checking the cars out and watching each other, giving tips what could be done better (cornering/breaking points/etc). During the following discussion, it turned out, that we all used pretty different steering devices, leading to a discussion of how to set up steering lock / break&gas sensitivity and so on.

My impression was, that after this really enjoyable evening, there was quite a difference in driving on racing line and finding break points by many of the participants.

I don't want to scatter around by talking about setups, but one thing would be good to know for the beginners and maybe should be part of Holgers beginner-guide:

If you use a cheaper wheel with just 180° steering lock, set your steering lock in the setup to 10° or even lower. It helps to better control the car resulting in smoother driving. Thanks again to Dirtyvfr for pointing that out.

I'm definitely looking forward for the next lessons, see you there...

              greetings,
              Georg

              -------------------------------

              Georg

              Hi together (Moin zusammen),

nice to hear that first (unscheduled) testing lesson was successful!

All topics Georg explained are the points I'm awaiting from such a driving school! Great!

@Georg: Just saved your information regarding settings for "cheaper" steering wheels (I have one, Logitech Formula Force GP - the red one) in my preliminary "Beginers - Bible"

See you next Wednesday at "Driving school"!

              Hi Holger,

exactly the same I was (and of course I am) awaiting for too. I started the thread for the first (scheduled ) training next wednesday. Very good to hear that last wednesday seemed to be successfull.

Settings for the steering wheel is also important for me. I have the "Formula Force EX" and maybe that there might be a way to optimize the settings for it.

              See you next Wednesday.

              Regards

              Hi Jochen,

I just heard that from Gee, directly after that unscheduled session, as I met him on TS during testing my TeamSpeak-Settings.

Settings for the steering wheel is also important for me. I have the "Formula Force EX" and maybe that there might be a way to optimize the settings for it.

I tested it online (setting = 10°) on Sunday during Watkins event, and it worked very successful. Much more sensitive and exact steering with my wheel!

Regarding "Driving School", unfortunately my working plan has changed, so I'm not able to participate on "driving school" next 3 Wednesdays!

In this bad case (for me )It would be great if somebody can write down the basic setup for the cars are successfully used during lesson (or save it locally and send that as zip-files to me via e-mail). Not to forgot to mention on which tracks they are used!
For myself, to learn more about driving line and break points on that tracks, a replay video of one of the "experienced" drivers could be helpful!

I'm very sad that I'm not able to be part of "The Bude Rookie Club" at moment , but I hope this Idea will have some fortune and future, and keeps the Bude unique between all the other "online-servers"!

              CU on track!

              Kind regards
              Holger
