Cheaters @ Altbierbude 16 Years, 11 Months ago

Hops!
Few days ago I was introduced in a fact that it's possible to cheat - getting more power - in GTL. I was running "factory-911" against 911 with 200% power. You probably know whether I won or lose... Actually I'm kinda reliefed to notice that when I've made "perfect lap" with f.ex. 911, the 2-3 secs gap to pole (911 also) has nothing to do with my driving skills...
Question is: why server allows this and what's wrong with you drivers? Is it more satisfying to win with superiour car than it is to win with fair play? Shame on you losers...

This is possible because there's no utility that's "backchecking" the files on the client PCs. So there's no comparison between orginal and modified files. The client sends it's laptime and it will be used by the server, no matter if it's a possible time or not.
I guess it should be possible to programm such a tool but I don't know who's able to do this for us.
But I guess there're a couple of more methods to cheat. For example changing the griplevel of a track or the aerodynamicslevel of the cars etc.
We known the people very well which are using cheats. You can simply expose them via their laptimes. They're normally always 2-4 seconds faster then the best "normal" drivers on the Bude.
If it's possible to get an advantage (even if it's a cheat) against others people will use it, that's human.
The big diffrence is that there're humans with self-esteem and some without.

Nah, I think it's "fair" to let everybody know this and how-to-do-it. So now on, when doping ur wheels is the way to go, we'll all turn to a bunch of a losers. But hey, who cares - at least we have +600 bhp mobiles. Sorry cheaters if I ruined your chances for now on - see you on grid!

Hi Guys,
Cheaters ARE losers and as Martin says you can tell quite well who they are.
The great majority of guys on here do not want to cheat and do not want cheaters.
When you join the Bude you have to give some personal information. I believe this information can be used to block those who are found to be cheating.
So Wimmelstern if you want to join the minority of cheaters that is entirely at your own discretion, but if you get booted off the Bude or out of any game that is at the discretion of others who know better and drive fair. I think encouraging people to cheat is completely wrong.

Hi
I agree with Gee-dee.
If you want to do your own race alone in first place by cheating, it's your problem. But you will have no fun and that is not the Bude-spirit.
As far as I'm concerned, I prefer having fair fights with other good drivers than loosing my time with cheaters...
Bye

Hallo Leute,
Oliver/kart1803

Only guys with small "wieners" are using cheats in a computer game like GTL...
Where the hell is the fun using a cheat and driving 2 sek faster than everybody else ?
For me the great fights are the fun, it´s always a pleasure to fight with the excellent drivers here and it doesn´t matter if its a fight for P1 or P12...
No need cheaters

I failed in sarcasm.
No worries - I don't see the point of cheating in game like this. Like someone said, I get more out of tough racing - even for 17th place - than winnin' by 10 secs. I also like winning myself more than fellow racers, but often it goes hand-in-hand. My point wasn't encourage enyone to cheat, but to bring this thing up. Most of the cheaters go with less boost, sumthing like 120% power, so it's not that obvious, but if you can and if you do drive some excellent laps, you can realize that playin' with your tyre pressures won't give you that extra 2-4 secs you're behind. Just a thought: Why don't we all boost to max it's possible = legalize it? That's fair again? Or how about going back to original cars? Or listing up a "hall of fame"? I'd be happy to list few "lap record" holders. Anyhow... You know who you are and whats the best part - so do I. And by the way, it's not that hard to drive fast with "factory-cars". It's up to you.

Sorry, but this reminds me of any public Need for Speed Server I saw.
For myself, I'd like GTL to stay what it is. As I understand, this is the spirit of the bude.

if drivers have to cheat then it spoils it for those who just want good racing.years ago i used to play half life online and they had a server script to detect modified files called hlgaurd as the game loaded up, if files had been modified the player got kicked
the Admins/moderators may want to have a look at a site called http://www.unitedadmins.com
they may find something of interest
ban all cheaters for breaking the spirit of the bude
