Recently I have thought my GTL was running slower and I have noticed there has been a few more problems than usual for others too.

I was e-mailed the patch below that is supposed to help:

I think it may have made a little difference but maybe on some systems it works better I don't know.

It has not harmed the computer so that is good.

Hi all,

this fix from Microsoft seems to help quite a lot with game loading speed and overall performance when using my P4 2.8 HT processor.

I used SetAffinity.exe "fix" (http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php? t=241878) earlier and it did help a bit, but the gain was at much lower level compared to this fix.

BUT, IF YOU ARE USING SETAFFINITY.EXE, IT DOESN'T SEEM TO COME ALONG WITH THIS FIX, TOGETHER THEY RUIN YOUR GAME PERFORMANCE. SO STOP USING IT AND USE THIS FIX FROM MICROSOFT INSTEAD!

hi

i couldn't install the update or any update so i re-installed XP on my OS drive/partition this cause GTL and GTR2 to stop working as it renamed my sim partition (long story), found all the codes so it's all working again, anyway

i'm running XP pro - with the MS update above
intel 2 cpu cpu

when i start up GTL or GTR2 and go into task manager / performance, only one CPU has any real load, so is GTL/GTR2 single cpu only.

Normally I use Firefox with a Google tool-bar when I go on line but I have found that to download anything successfully from Microsoft you have to use Windows Explorer.

Sorry I forgot to mention that ...so could that have been the reason for your install problem?

no i think it's down to the fact that i hack my PC so it can't do anything without me telling it to and if i notice a service using the internet or the cpu i stop that service from starting, right click on "my computer" then click "manage" then "services" i also remove all the other users and rename other ones, then delete everything out of most of the groups and also remove things from the registry and use msconfig and also stop things running by deleting them in task manager.

basically i f*ck my puter right up.


one good thing to check is look in the task manager and see if you can remove files that check for software updates on the fly, these can start on their own and use cpu time and network resource, you might need to google as few of them to find out what ones you don't need.

how to run GLT and GTR2 using both cores

Hi,

I don't see much difference using both cores (maybe around 5 FPS or even less, so I normally assign GTL in the task-manager to core 1, avoiding in-game stutter when background processes start to work (they usually hang on core 0).

As GTL isn't designed to run on multi-cores, assigning it to both cores could create more problems than it solves...

i put the link in for info, it had never crossed my mind that GTL or GTR2 didn't use both cpu's. If i had known then i wouldn't have gone the 2 x CPU route and this would explain a few things.

but i will try running GTL or GTR2 on both cpu's for a laugh and see if it crashes.
