The engine volume of the Kadett is FAR TOO LOUD (I'm shouting over the noise!)

It is one thing turning the sound down for yourself when racing the car, but when racing against a Kadett the volume is at an unbearable level.

If you turn down ‘other’ cars volume to make the Kadett bearable, you then no longer hear any other make of car.

Is there any chance it can be made to match the others?

As far as I've heard on the TS there are several sound files available for the Kadett. But I don't know where to find them, sorry.

there you find 4 different Sounds,
add this file into the data folder of the car you prefer.

Thank you Maze and Matthias, I have found the files and had a play around.

But it appears that although it changes the general engine sound, the volume level is still high.

Higher than any other car in GTL.

Is there a 'quiet' one?

When viewing other drivers via the Monitor you cannot hear the engine sound of many drivers of the C Coupe, is this due to the fact that they have a different sound file to the one you have selected?

The first thing that I do if something is too loud is turn the volume down.

Koi please try if it's better for you in GTL if you go into OPTIONS - SOUND - and turn down the option 'players vehicle' (Spielerfahrzeug) plus the option 'engine' (Motor).

Your right,the sound level is very high.
I,am not able to hear the other cars too.
That would be fine if anyone can fixed that problem in the future..

@Mental,das Problem ist das,wenn ich mein Spielerfahrzeug leiser mache werden die Umgebungsgeräusche wie z.B.Reifenquietschen auch leise,sogar unhörbar.
Drehst du an der Motorlautstärke wird das eigene Auto und alle anderen Fahrzeuge leise.
Die Karre ist einfach viel zu laut und lässt sich nicht an die anderen Fahrzeuge anpassen,ein ständiges gefummel an den Laustärke Optionen wenn man mal wieder ein anderes Auto fahren möchte.

Über AUD-Parameter läßt sich das auch nicht vernünftig regeln. Die einzige wirksame Möglichkeit ist es, die Sound Samples selbst zu bearbeiten (diese liegen im Ordner GameData/Sound ....),
ABER: Ich würde keine Eingriffe vornehmen, wenn ich nicht weiß was zu tun ist UND vor allem nicht ohne jegliche Permission des Erstellers (Citytea). Auch wenn jeder auf seinem Rechner machen kann, was er möchte (bitte keine Postings mehr zu diesem Thema ),ist es trotzdem Charakter- bzw. Ehrensache das nur mit Erlaubnis zu tun. (Das ist die Sache mit dem gegenseitigem Respekt usw.)
Oder vielleicht möchte auch jemand den begnadeten Schöpfer des Lärmes um ein entsprechendes Update bitten??

Der Sound ist einfach klasse, auch das mit den verschiedenen.....

Wie Maze schon schreibt, man is nur noch am rumfummeln in den Einstellungen und Ton-Macher burpsens Meinung geht ja auch dahin.

Eine Bitte um weniger Dezibel im Rahmen der Gesundheitsvorsorge schmälert ja nicht den Respekt vor dem Mod bzw. dem Sound desselben

Speaking for myself:

After adjusting the soundoptions everything is perfectly alright with the loudness. I don't need any change at all. Joking: If it's too loud, you're too old.



Speaking for others:

Talking about problems doesn't change anything.

Finding solutions is what you should do. If you want to find solutions talk to the people who can change something.

Mental Gear, turning down the engine volume does not fix the problem. I don't think you understand, but we'll leave it at that.

I think, the problem is the different sound output with onboard-soundcards and standalone sound cards.

Standalone soundcards seem to give a much higher volume output than onboard sound cards. I never had a problem with the sound, never had one with huge volume output.

But I ask some user and every one, who has a separate sc, got that problem.

I think, the first solution can be, that you test every sound, send with the mod and look, which sound version is the best, your game and your engine volume can handle.

Then, you link this sound version via aud-file to every skin.

I didn't try it yet, but maybe these parameters in the AUD ar far too high and could cause the very loud onboard sound.
playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction=9.4
playerEngineVolumeRevFraction=5.3

Normally the maximum of these param. should be defined to 1.0, I guess. Maybe Citytea can give us more explanation for the use of these high values, because I'm still not really sure about, what these param. are supposed to do.

The sound samples itselves are not responsible for the "loud" sound. The RMS level of the Kadett samples is quiet lower than the level of the Escort sound samples.

Edit: I did not check every Kadett-AUD or sample, I just took the mentioned parameters and files as an example, but the other ones will surely be similar.

Why should he be? If he understands german and english and we do too - no problem at all.

But if someone posts in English on the English board one can assume he wants to talk about it in English and not in German, wouldn't you agree?

But as a last word, I have an on board card, nothing add on.

I race the BMW 320, this is a car with a high engine sound, this evening while racing at Sandown, there was a Kadett which over powered my engine sound to the level that I could not hear my own engine.

I understand this is 'some ones' car, I'm just asking questions regarding the level of the engine noise.

And I get told off for posting it on the forum and wasting space !!!

I changed mine to

playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction=0.4
playerEngineVolumeRevFraction=0.3

and it works great now! Thanks burps

First time I drove this car it cleaned my ears out.

Also I fixed it for all cars by editing one .AUD file

Then I moved it up to the main Opel Kadett folder

Then I deleted all the other .AUD files in the car sub folders.

Is that a correct thing to do?
