Hi all, I just noticed that despite retiring on lap 1 at Nordschleife in the Back to the 60s Cup, my weight penalty remains at 120 kg instead of being reduced significantly?

Is that because of the 2 worst results drop rule? If so, is it really fair that it's applied to the weight penalties too, instead of keeping it strictly to the points standings calculation?

From what I understand the weight penalty is dependent on race results, not on the standings, so surely this must be a mistake?

Micha, please check and fix it if it's a mistake. I was looking forward to finally having less of a penalty after my bad result last time around...

this is not a mistake. In all our series with penalty weights, there is always one rule, only those who see the checkered flag can also remove weights. This is to prevent the races are canceled and simply a strike result is taken. It hurts sometimes, but it's the same for everyone.

Thanks, Micha. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning, as cancelled races happen rarely while technical issues that cause retirements are a common occurrence.

It also reduces the effectiveness of the 2 worst results drop rule by keeping the driver with lots of weight despite having bad results and losing points (if it's not part of the 2 worst dropped results).

Perhaps for future seasons/championships it should be considered to include weight being removed regardless whether the driver reached the finish or not.

Well, from my point of view this is *still* not a good idea.

If I´m some laps down, for what reason ever, and I´m leaving the server with ESC just because a good result is out of reach (or I´m destroying my car at will, hitting the wall with 200 or more if I don´t want to 'ESC', this should never be rewarded with a weight penalty loss.

We´re following this rule for years, for a very good reason: nothing is more disappointing than e.g. when only 10 out of 25 drivers finish a race while the others are losing weight just because they are leaving the server.

I don´t think we will change this in future series.

Of course one can argue about the assignment of the weights. Nothing is perfect.
