When i try to load gtl.exe (i did setup the resolution first)
i just does nothing...
no error , just plain zip
dont even see it comming into windows taskmanager.
also tryed administrator rights and XP compat.
but i cant put it in a c:\games dir...
no space there (SSD)
any other options?

have a look at the german faq - chapter Installation, this works also on w7-64. Make the installation step by step (if necessairy use a translator) and then GTL should work - the autoupdater will configure all well.

I assume, you're running Win7? If so, starforce should be the problem...

You can try:
*remove your install completely
*reinstall from DVD - !!Don't start the game!!
*Update to Version 1.1.0.0
*Install Python, Wxpython and the Autoupdater from here
*Go to Autoupdater -> Tweaks -> GTL-Patch (170MB to download)
* Run the Autoupdater (be patient, 15GB skins and tracks to download via P2P)
* When the Updater has finished, you can unlock all cars and tracks in the autoupdater (make TG2001.DYN) and set the car prices to 1 - not 0, as you can't sell them afterwards, if you like to
*Join us on track..

Thank you for this! I spent the good part of a day trying to figure out why when I logged on to one of the servers I always showed up in the GT40 and was booted.

So I gave up and uninstalled and followed your steps and I can get on the servers now.

I had orginally followed the steps shown on NOGRIP for Win7 http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php? t=186595 and was wondering about using the GTL2008 sounds fix mod that they suggest there.

I have not used it yet and was wondering if it is already part of the autoupdate?

I am a little scared of trying anything else now since it is working.

If all the cars are not installed you will quite often find a red GT40 when you go to choose a car and when you try to race online you may get an infinite loop (Flashing screen).

Have you used the Autoupdater to install all cars and tracks? See under Latest Gizmos ABB Autoupdater 2.1.3 on the right hand column of the Home Page.

Any sounds you install should not make the game crash or affect the running of the graphics but only the sound output will be changed.

Changing any other files and folders is not recommended unless you know what you are doing as they could easily lead to the game crashing if there is even the smallest of mistakes made at times.

Hi FatnSlo,

sound-patch is necessary only if you run into sound-problems... If you have sound in all cars and hear all other cars surrounding you, you can leave it untouched. Nevertheless, if you're bored you can install it - it won't kill your game...

Only one thing to remember: Please don't install other mods in the bude-installation, as it uses different car classes as the original game. If you want to try some other mods, do a seperate clean installation of GTL into a different folder... e.g. the abovementioned steps until you have the GTL-patch.
