Autoscript Problem 17 Years, 11 Months ago
                        Hi,
I've just installed python and ran the english autoscript. It comes up with a list of tracks and cars that need to be downloaded. I enter "y" to begin. It attempts to begin the first car download, but it's there's no progress to the file. It leaves a 0kb file in the addon cars folder where the script lives, but no log file. CTRL-C doesn't break the script and I have to stop it manually.

Is there a port on my router that needs to be opened? Or on Windows Firewall?

                        Or something else wrong?

                        Let me know!
                        Steve

Sounds like a timeout problem deep in the network code. There is also the possiblity that your router and/or fireware is blocking the incoming connection from the FTP server.

Firstly, you should try to disable your Windows firewall and start the script again. If it still doesn't work, try the attached script which is using passive instead of active FTP transfers. Extract all files into the folder where the script is located. Then start the file &quot;altbierbude.py&quot; by doubleclicking it. If this doesn't solve your problem than you have a serious problem ...<br><br>Post ge&auml;ndert von: Kungpfui, am: 12/06/2007 20:51

Off to watch the F1 and let it run. Thanks!

                        Hi

BTW, I had to use the script that you just posted.

That means: your router is the problem. Normally, nowadays routers are smart enough to open the nessecary port for FTP data transfers. Maybe your router would do that too with a firmware update.

However, the posted script is not able to update himself which would be a problem for you in the future. If there is no update for your router which would solve the problem then use the attached script. It's a modfied standard script which does the same as the first posted script but is able to get script updates automatically.<br><br>Beitrag ge&auml;ndert von: Kungpfui, am: 2007/06/21 18:07

Problem to get connected to a session 2007/06/20 23:30
                        Hi all,

I have read the topic but I still have 2 problems :

1/ I have installed the automatic updater as described in the website. I run it before launching GTL and when I say &quot;Yes&quot; to the question &quot;install all the files?&quot;; then the line in MS DOS window freeze. And nothing is happening after that. What's wrong?

2/I have cars and tracks installed. When I want to join a session on altbierbude1, I have an infinite loop. Even if I can still go through the procedure of joining game, the names of the connected drivers are appearing constantly and the view of the track is very slow. What's wrong? Is there a link with point 1?

I have disabled firewall to run the program.

Thank you very much for answering.

Hi I'm having trouble again like you said in your 6/12/2007 post. Unfortunately, I didn't catch that post earlier and now the link to the (second) updated script is dead.

I tried to use the script yesterday and it came up with a huge list of stuff I needed to download. I know that I had almost all of those updates installed previous to using the script.

So I came here and saw your post. I updated the firmware on my router (Netgear WGT624) and tried again. I still got the huge list of updates but went ahead and tried to download them. I left it running for a day, but it only downloaded the first car and most of the second and then got stuck.

I connected straight to the modem, and disabled firewall. I will let you know if that worked.

If it still doesn't work, use the attached script (and don't forget to remove the old scripts!)

The reason why it came up with a huge list is: we made a major change in the script! If you are using that one I have posted firstly it will always try to download all files!

Point 1: Maybe you have the same problem as sky9600. Try the attached script.

Point 2: if you don't have ALL driven cars you get the infinite loop. Make sure you have really all cars.

                        MS DOS window
By the way: That's not a MS DOS window. It's a Shell window.

                        Hi Thanks Kungphui!!!

I deleted all the files ending in .py (left the ones ending in .pyc) and put the new script in. It detected four new files an downloaded them.

                        I really appreciate your support!

(left the ones ending in .pyc)

You can remove them too. These files are byte code files which are automatically generated by python. If they exist and are up-to-date the loadtime of the script is even lower.

In your case they are useless because they were generated based on the already deleted files.

It says that I can't use it anymore and that I have to download version 2.0 from the website?

That is a very very old script and it doesn't work anymore. So don't try to use it.
