Hi fellow-racers,

while practicing for Aston Martin DB4 GT at Pembrey event tomorrow, I remembered that as a child I had a similar toy car - a model of a car featured in several early James Bond movies.

It had a functioning ejector seat and it was my treasure then. The car was made by Corgi Toys and I had also the other car from 007 movie they produced - Toyota 2000 GT that launched rockets from it's trunk. Unfortunately I have not the slightest idea where those treasures of mine are now.

That Aston Martin was not the DB4 but DB5. Looked very similar but it had a 4.0 L engine instead of 3.7 L of DB4 and a 5-speed gear box.

After some googling I found some old Corgi Toys catalogues from Web. Those cars of mine were introduced in 1969 catalogue.

I give you links to those catalogues, I'm sure at least more matured ones of you find them interesting and nostalgic:

Corgi Toys catalogue 1958
Corgi Toys catalogue 1969
Corgi Toys catalogue 1973
Corgi Toys catalogue 1980/81
Dinky Toys catalogue 1974

As a child of 60's I have had a privilege to play with toys made in Europe instead of that scrap that began to come on market on 70's - take a look at those catalogues and remember again or find out for first time what kind of beauties the toys of 50's, 60's and early 70's were!

I encourage you to share your memories of those toys made in good old times, I'm sure many of you still remember them!

Cheers,
Timo

Hi Timo,

When I was young the wheel had not been invented so I had no motor car toys...

He he! I just joke with you. My Corgi toys were from the 1958 catalogue as were the Dinky toys that I also had: http://www.qualitydiecasttoys.com/list.php?cat=11

My mother made me give all mine away when I was too old to play with them... now they are worth a lot of money!

I had the chitty bang bang car with folding wings. Loved that. But my favourite was the crash em bash em cars. Ahh memories. Any of you guys play "guns" or war when you were a kid? My mother made us white snow camo one year. We had a full handmade arsenal of wooden guns. Mine was the sten gun.
