Going to multiplayer kills my player file and car 11 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi. I used a clean install of GTL (downloaded from Steam) on a removable hard drive, installed everything with the Bierbuden Autoupdater, and use LowGuard to run, but when I log onto multiplayer the program automatically selects the first car it comes to with a letter prefix. It does this whether I join an event or not - I can go straight back to single player mode and this car is the only one that I get, no matter which I've selected. When I replace the player data (or create a new player) I get the full selection back until I try multiplayer again. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, but I've seen others use 64 bit and have the same problem. I chose XP Service pack 3 compatibility and it's run as an administrator. Deleting all cars with letter prefixes has worked before, until I join an event when someone is using one such car. I've only been going online for a couple of weeks, and things worked fine for a few days, but it's very frustrating now and unless someone knows the cure, it's got so that it's not worth it anymore. Help?

Re:Aw: Going to multiplayer kills my player file and car 11 Years, 2 Months ago
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply tino! The problem I have though, isn't to do with the set-up itself - in fact, although I do have a G27 wheel, I haven't used it for a while because I live in a small apartment in Moscow and there isn't enough room for it (according to the wife!) I have been using the keyboard, which although isn't anywhere near as good as using the wheel is better than nothing. In single player mode I have no problems whatsoever, but as soon as I select multiplayer the problem occurs - no matter what car I choose (random example: Mini Cooper for a TC65 event) when the server loads my data I suddenly have a Ford GT40 and I get booted for having the wrong car. If I delete that particular GT40 (with the letter prefix) I get some other car (Shelby Daytona for example). When I go back to single player from multiplayer the problem occurs there as well until I delete the profile and create a new one. It is disappointing because, although I'm not a great driver (and I'm blaming having to use the keyboard here!), I have enjoyed the few times it did work online. Thanks again, and any other suggestions welcome!

Seem to have found a cure for the problem. Using the Altbierbude app 'Tweaks', I re-entered the online key using uppercase letters and dashes between the groups of 7 letters/numbers (it had been shown in the input box as a string of lowercase letters), and it now works on multi-player. Now the key appears in the box as a string of uppercase letters without the dashes and so I don't know if inputing said dashes in the first place was important - but now I can go online I don't care!
