Hi,

yesterday at Mo i Rana event on server #3 I met a strange sounding Alfa-Romeo GTA. It sounded like it had dropped the muffler!

Checked it afterwards from replay and right I was!

It was the Alfa-Romeo GTA Monzeglio:



There is no notice of any sound modification at download page of that car: Link

I didn't know there are cars with modified sound available here, are there?

At least I have never downloaded any cars to my GTL installation without using Autoupdater as far as I remember.

Can anyone give me an explanation?

In the car folder is an Alfa.aud which points to DucFreaks Alfa-Addon-Sound. If you can hear the motor sound you must have installed this sound update manually otherwise you aren't able to hear any sound.

Thanks for the answer, but I want a second opinion.

I'm 100% sure I have not manually installed any sound or other updates, only complete cars and only using the Autoupdater.

Can installing the Power & Glory Mod V1 for GTR2 have affected this since it requires GTL to be installed?

Okay, you've not installed it manually. You've done it by installing the Corolla Mod. This Japanese cars use DucFreaks GTA sound. Difficult riddle but there is your answer

One more question:

If I had not had the sound add-on by DucFreak brought by the Corolla Mod, had this car used the original sound or had it appeared as a mute "electro-car"?

If a car uses sounds you do not have installed, then it will not make any sound.

So if you had not installed the Corolla mod, then this Alfa would have been silent.

The answer was just what I was afraid it to be.

So there is no (default) sound for a car if the specific sound told in configuration file is not available for any reason.

I find it kind of unwanted situation when a car is not totally independent but requires some other add-on car to be installed to function properly.

Is this just a mistake or properly thought situation?

Obviously a mistake, as the readme of this car should state that the addon sound would be needed.

But as the user 'Jastadan' who painted this car, isn't an active user here, we're not able to ask him about this incident.

Just a suggestion:
Why don't you just simply delete the file 'AlfaGTAsounds.aud' in the #57 folder?
I deleted it and in my GTL installation it now has the original Alfa GTA sound.

I installed Duckfreaks Alfa Sound on all of my Alfa cars as it is better than the original.

That different sound was not a problem for me, the car may as well grunt, baa or quack as long as it just makes some sound...

Without the Corolla Mod (or that sound add-on manually) installed this particular car had stayed mute.

But it seems I can always find here friendly and skilled persons to tell me and other "handless" how to fix such problems, a big thank you!

Not all addon cars appeal to me and there is nothing wrong with having better sounds or cars. Time didn't stand still in that era ...if it had of done I would be younger now! He he!

Just a quick note to this. If you have an addon car that IS this way. IE: you don't have the sound pack and it is "silent". Just remove the aud. file and the sound will be the default sound.
