Hi all,
couldn't have been more exciting for me!
Started 7th, could keep my position until lost totally control when braking to the "needle". I glided through the grass in front of cars coming out of that "needle". I'm very sorry for the trouble I caused. "Waited" (Drove slowly) some seconds since I really had no idea which cars did I hurt.
Started climbing up the row until A. Santos hit my back, didn't say sorry or wait. Did that once for someone else before, too. Bad bad boy, but what could I do.
I was aiming for 1 stop strategy and started lap 15 with a known risk. Didn't push the pedal to the floor and used bigger gear bigger everywhere. My engine stalled when I entered the pit lane put I could roll to my pit for refueling. Had to restart my stalled engine, was lucky to remember which button to press.
Could "overtake" Fitti during pit stop and after that we had a juicy match right to the end of the race. When either of us was slower at some point we didn't make it too hard to pass but just let each other to go and hoping we could change our positions later in some other part of the track.
Once Fitti had some trouble in a curve and I was aiming to pass him, he got his car on a "fly" again, I dropped my left wheels on grass and there I went! But Fitti waited for me! Our cars didn't have any contact, so he had no real reason for waiting, but he waited though - what an exceptional gesture and what a real gentleman driver!
Some laps later when I was again trying to pass him, I "miscalculated" the radius of that curve, hit the concrete wall and started my flight at 200 km/h, made a full turn and just kept on going just under 200 km/h! I lost only 4-5 seconds there - how lucky I was!
I calculated that I had to drive only 29 laps after M. Käsbeitzer overtook Fitti and me. So no need to spare any fuel - gas pedal straight ahead! But no - some laps before end M. Käsbeitzer went refueling and we were again on the same lap. Will I have enough fuel to finish the race?
I was on 2. position and Fitti was closing again. I couldn't resist and had to let him pass, but a surprise - after lap 29 Fitti slowed to the side of the pit wall. Did he ran out of fuel? Did he miscalculate the number of laps? Or what? After I went by I think he came "back to the track". I drove sparing fuel, hit even the wall once with a gear number too high!
When I came to the main straight my engine stalled again - but no worry, I could roll to the finish line on P2 with empty tank!
So it was without any doubt the most exciting race in my career so far!
Thank you all who drove with me on server #3.
@M. Käsbeitzer
Congratulations - you drove totally in your own class!
@Fitti
What ever did happen to you?
Anyway, you're a real gentlemen - I could almost build a statue for you, you're one of the million!
Cheers,
Timo
