                            Hi again pilots.

Every time I launch the Autoupdater, after performing its initial checks, it shows a window saying that there are some Gb of "local files" to install:

The "Miscellaneous" checkbox is inaccessible to me, and it's always flagged.

But the strangest thing is that the the totals don't sum up correctly.

If I select the cars classes individually I get, say, 200Mb of TC-65 cars, 500Mb of GTC-65 cars and 500Mb of GTC-TC-76 cars.

If I select them all together, I don't get 200+500+500Mb, but much more!

In the real example of the screenshot above (6,7Gb total) I have respectively, 125Mb, 1.200Mb and 2.800Mb of local files (there are no Tracks to install).
That sums up to 4.125Mb, and that's quite a huge difference!

                            Is there any advice?
                            Anything I can do?
                            Does it happen to others?

                            Thanks.

                            Hi Ripley,

the Autoupdater makes always a good job. The Autoupdater checks my installation and downloads all missing zip packages. Sometimes the autoupdater wants to reinstall some packages. But I don't care.

So, is there really a problem?

Click 'Yes' and wait until the Autoupdater finished his tasks.
Don't start GTL before the Autoupdater has finished.

                            Regards

                            Hello Ripley,

maybe there are not enough access rights at the GTL directory...

                            Thanks Harald Arry.
That's exactly what I was starting thinking myself.

I (still) have XP, and I never had access rights issues with any software, as I'm the only user.
Probably GTL, being quite an oldish program, requires a different approach. That's where my knowledge is non-existent.

I'll try to run Autoupdater "as admin" and see how it goes.

A last question: taking my screenshot as an example, may I try to manually unzip the first "problematic" car (BMW_CSL_Warsteiner_V1_1.zip), and see if I get some kind of errors?
Does Autoupdater performs a simple unzip (so I can do the same by hand), or does it writes some magic into some database so it's better I don't do it?

There is no magic and no GTL database.

Before you start to unzip a car manuallay, open the zip container with 7zip, drill down to the car folder (e.g. Teams\TC-65\Alfa Romeo GTA\18) and check, if this folder exists in your GTL installation and for a missing file in the folder. If all seems to be ok, the Autoupdater is able to store the content of the zip conatiner in your GTL installation.
If not, select some cars which the Autoupdater wants to install and note the target car folder.
Execute the Autoupdater and when the Autoupdater finished, check, if the missing cars noted before are now installed in your Teams folder.

If not, start to think...or pray.

                            Regards

                            Thanks for these details lowspeed.

I'll try to do that during next weekend, when RL allows me to.

Anyway, I suspect (from other weird behaviours) that my pc needs one of those good ol' reformats!

Ok, for what it's worth, here's me again.

I restored my pc from an image I had, I reinstalled the Autoupdater (Python, etc...) from scratch, restored the 20Gb of ABB content from a backup, formatted my "games" hard-disk, recreated a new "GTLABB" folder, and I still have more than 7Gb of local files to reinstall.
Not 20, not 15, not 2, always 7, so there must a problem with some specific cars, and not with all of them.

As an example, here's two shots of the zip with the first car that Autoupdater wants to reinstall, the "Fiat_Abarth_Pizza_V1_1".

In the screenshot at the top you see the content of the downloaded zip, at the bottom you see the content of the actual car, as it is in GTL.
The only difference is in the selected file: 1,67 Kb VS 1,65 Kb.

I manually unzipped this car into GTLABB, thinking that this little Kb difference was the problem, but, guess what...nothing changed.

I could maybe try to delete this Fiat from my general archive and see if it works after being redownloaded.

If it is a folder access problem, how can i "Run as administrator" the Autoupdater, which is not an exe? Right click doesn't show the option.
I'm the only user on my XP machine.

Apart from wether I have problems online or not, isn't that strange?

All things are going right if the updater tries to install cars again and again after you use the option "new installation" or use the updater for the first time after installation.

                            Cheers

                            Hi.
Still trying to get rid of this problem, I totally removed the "Abarth" folder from my archive to redownload it with Autoupdater.

After redownloading it, I got this message (Finished but there are errors. Please post these errors in the forum)

Edit: Ok, Auotoupd is now redowloading those 4 missing cars...
