Recently, on the Bude TS, I met Dirk (dikl_by) who is a rookie. After we got talking he told me that he was a German working for Bentley Cars in England. He is a Quality Analysis Centre Manager and responsible for the reliability tests on all models and also all field concerns.
Dirk came from Germany over 3 years ago to help work on and launch the fastest and most powerful Bentley yet… The Bentley Continental Supersport:

He told me that there were two Bentley’s coming over from Germany on Friday night (25th September) and he hoped to get one for the weekend. When he discovered that I lived near Newcastle he said he would love to take the opportunity to combine a test drive to show me the car on Saturday the 26th… of course I said no, ha ha… only joking.
Unfortunately, the Supersport which does 0-60mph (96kmh) in 3.7 seconds was still being serviced when he went to the factory on Saturday morning, but a Bentley Continental GT was available so he came with that one and I was not disappointed at all.
The Supersport is only a 2 seater whilst this is a four seater, so I was able to take my wife Joan along

.
The deep burble of the engine was soooo good and the acceleration was like a jet fighter!! We went onto a small bumpy country lane and he stopped and asked us to be prepared

. Then he floored this 4 wheel drive beast and it shot forward at what I can only say seemed to be supersonic to around 60mph (96kmh) and there was only the slightest scuff sound from the tyres!!
He hit the Carbon Ceramic brakes which are the size of the wheels on my car and it stopped so damn quick I almost had to push my eyeballs back in. What a car!!!
This particular car was altered so it could be a test bed or simulator for the Supersport model and it still does 0-60mph (96kmh) in 3.7 seconds!!!!!

At one stage on a dual carriageway, he put cruise control on and adjusted the distance between us and a van in front. He took both feet of the pedals and the car accelerated and braked itself to keep the same constant distance away, now that was quite a strange feeling indeed.
He told me that on average, the people who buy these cars have at least 8 other cars and they only average 3,700 miles (6,000k) a year. What a waste of a brilliant car. If we all pool our money together we could buy one… perhaps… please?? He he!
Anywhooo, I couldn’t resist telling you of this great outing that I had and will never forget. Please see below for links to pictures.
Cheers,
Gordon aka Gee-Deeman
