Hi! Im new here in the site. Happy ive found it. Wanna race with you guys online. I setup the game for it but have one question: i couldnt figure out how to choose needed cars/tracks through Altbierbude updated and clicked Next. The full archive is 90GB now. Its ok with normal internet speed but its limited to 200 kbit/s. I left downloading at night and only 6 GB downloaded. I got Porsche RSR for the next event but Barcelona track is still paused. I cant force it downloading in the menu. Please help! My PC should work 24 hours a day to download it all and still im not sure i get the track for the event. Its frustrating.

Hi, yeah it is normal - you should not worry about the speed it is around 200 kb/s for me as well.

You cannot force the Barcelona track, but you can always download it from the Downloads menu and install it manually.

Hello, unfortunately this is the normal speed without port forwarding. It will only be faster via p2p if you enable ports 8435-8438 in your router. And the archive is only about 45GB, not 90, but to race on Sunday you only need these 3 downloads, simply download them manually and copy the respective GameData folder into the game directory. The CarClasses must be downloaded last!

That's right, the download is limited in the Autoupdater.
if you want to take part in the Porsche Cup tomorrow, then you need the track and the vehicle, as Duleto has already written. You also need the car classes.
You can also download the files manually and copy GTL.

However, it is recommended to install the data via the Autoupdater.

There are a few important settings to ensure that the race runs smoothly.
These settings can be found in the Autoupdater under Tweaks:

Tweaks-ProfileSettings-DrivingAids
No AI Control = enabled
Autopit = disabled
Force Autopit off = enabled

It is also important to install the extended setup. You can find this under Tweaks-expension.

The video by Nilski on Youtube is a good help for installing and setting up.

Oh, one little issue here. When i start from shortcut it appears Graphic settings with 800x600 set by default and it appears again and again, the game dosen't start. It starts only from Steam with 800x600 only. I run it on Windows 7, videocard is GeForce GTX 460.

You must set the graphics before starting. You do this via the GTLconfig.exe in the game directory. Start as admin! After that it should work.

Well, i couldn’t find a topic of Porsche RSR championship and i write my report here, hope you don’t mind. I was very excited about this race since i found your site (thanks to youtube blogger Dan Burtlett who sent a link). Right before quali my old video card started to mess, so i have to switch to a newer one (prepared for a new PC which i will get soon) with installing new drivers. No big deal, just missed 10 mins of qualifying.
When it over i went out to get some tea quickly and after returning i needed 1 min to realise what happened. The race already started. I missed around 20 seconds… Hoped for restart but… Can’t tell how i was sad.
Well this gonna be my first ever online race in GTL. I still not get used with some differences from rFactor 1. There is always several mins of warm-up after quality.
I used to race rFactor with HistoricX mod in 2009-2014 years, huge fun, then out of gaming and when i try to return couple of years ago rFactor was already dead online. My favorite HustoricX mod is not interesting to people anymore.
And now GTL become that more or less equal substitute for it, because i didn’t find it in rFactor 2/Assetto Corsa and other sims. It’s great this game is still has so much popularity,
Hope to see you in upcoming events and the tea will be prepared earlier!

It's a real shame that you missed the start. As far as restarts are concerned, we only have them in absolutely exceptional cases, e.g. when the field has halved after turn 1. But even then it's not mandatory. Unfortunately, in GTL we can't just restart the race, we always have to restart the whole event. This would mean that all qualifying times would be lost in the event of a restart.

I also know exactly how you feel - the same happened to me in what was supposed to be my first race here.
Coming from iRacing/GTR2/rFactor/RACE07 with 2 minutes for gridding I also got caught out by the just 30 seconds in GTL and did not grid until the race was underway as I missed the countdown in the bottom right thinking I had plenty of time.
The good thing - you only do that mistake once.

It's probably happened to pretty much everyone that they missed the start.
Annoying but not the end of the world.
