autoupdater don't download any file 15 Years, 2 Months ago

Can somebody help me with this error message shown from the auto-update script after trying to download the updatet cars and tracks?
EXCEPTION IN TRANSFER THREAD
Further pleas tell me what to do, to change from p-to-p to FTP-server download. (I used paypal yesterday...)
Thanks in advance

Hi Spritty,
the error-message states, that the host you are trying to reach doesn't react. Looks like a problem with the ABB-Server at the moment, or with your connection in general - maybe try to download at a later time.
As far as I know, the change from p2p to FTP should be done by the admins, as soon as they assign the donation with your username.
cheers
Georg

Hi Spritty,
Make sure that the Autoupdater is actually trying to download to the correct GTL installation.
Start the Autoupdater and go to Options / Folders and check it out there.
Your change over to the FTP server could take a few hours or maybe a day. If it takes any longer contact the Admins. The site is run by guys who have proper jobs as well, so give them a chance.
Cheers,

Hi guys,

GeeDee: I checked the folders - all wright.
Moorhuhn: I can't download anything since the first time I started my membership at the bude...
Could it have to do somthing with my Telekom-Router (Ports...)? My knowledge in this area is VERY poor!
Thanks

Hi, Spritty!
Are you using any personal firewalls on your PC (not Windows internal one)?
If yes, turn it off and try again. If it works then, make an exception rule in your personal firewall.
If not, check the settings on your router - maybe you have set up firewall rules or port filters here? The maintenance of a Telekom-router is kept very simple. Try to delete any firewall rules and switch of the filter function.
Hopefully it works then ...
Greetings
Matthias
P.S.: Do you also speak German when using a Telekom-router?

Hi Matthias,
thanks for help.
I've no fire wall installed on that machine and windows firewall is turned off.
Unfortunatly I don't know how to check or change the setting of the router, I searched everywhere I thought it could be, but didn't found something to be sure changing the right things...sorry
Could you explain the path to the router settings?
Thanks in advance
Spritty

Telekom-routers have the standard-IP 192.168.2.1
open this IP with your favourit browser...the menue should be self-explaining... but you'll need a user/password to gain access. If you haven't set one, google for standard user/password-combination of telekom-routers. Something like admin/0000 comes to my mind...
other routers use some of the standard IP's:
192.168.0.0
192.168.0.1
192.168.1.0
192.168.1.1
and so on...
greetings
Georg

Hi,
so, after a telephone discussion with Austria-Telekom, fact is: I was wrong, I have not a router - I have a normal modem (wih 2 PCs connected)
So, I'm at the end with my knowledge. Autoupdater doesn't work AND today it's also impossible to download updates manually.
Further I got nothing to change the Autoupdater to FTP till now.

Hi Spritty,
everything said should also be true for modems(?)!
If you don't have a software for configuring your connection, you can try the abovementioned IP's.
Firewalls, port filters and other blocking software (antivir, etc.) should be turned off for testing...

Hi,
I've found the reason for the problem!
It wasn't the modem but the wrong "archiv"-folder setting in the autoupdater.
Now it seems to work. Thanks for trying to help me!

Hi Spritty,
Remember what I asked you to check...
"Make sure that the Autoupdater is actually trying to download to the correct GTL installation.
Start the Autoupdater and go to Options / Folders and check it out there."
It was only the next box down from there. I thought you would have checked it out at the same time.
Great you have got it working at last though.

I do have the same problems at this moment. I've checked all the folders and the connection seems to be OK (NOT using FTP mode). Can someone confirm that there is a problem with the p2p connection?
Thanks
